Femtocell Security and Threats on Telecommunication Infrastructure

Mobile network operators are adapting femtocells in order to simplify their network architecture for increased performance and greater revenue opportunities. We take a deeper look at what are the current femtocell security state and what are main issues are with Femtocell Network architecture.

Topics discussed will be short introduction to Femtocell systems, why it is a hot topic, device vulnerabilities and practical attacks, threats to the infrastructure and to the end users.

Speaker: Ravishankar Borgaonkar

After finishing masters degree in Security and Mobile computing at TKK&KTH, Ravi works as a researcher in the the Security in Telecommunications department at Technical University Berlin. His research themes are related to mobile telecommunication and involved security threats. This ranges from GSM/UMTS/LTE, network security to end-user device security.
